Hands up if you’ve ever used Google Translate? Well me too! I’m guessing we’ve all used it at some point whilst surfing the net, but for what purpose? For me it’s mainly when shopping on Japanese or Korean eCommerce sites, or reading blogs and articles from overseas for work. For online shopping sites it’s usually to double check that the store ships to the UK and that the delivery charges aren’t extortionate. Unfortunately, more and more businesses are relying on Google’s open-source translation solution, or other Machine Translation systems, to translate the international versions of their website, which can be a dangerous decision to make!
